Ubuntu 16.04 cannot add item to alacarte

Ubuntu 16.04 daiy build, updates of March 23. I cannot add an item to thealacarte menu. I can open a new item, fill in the necesary information to the new Launcher Properties, klick <ok>, but nothing happ ens. Tried it many times, unsuccessfully. I could easily add new items with Ubuntu 14.04.3.

Is this still a bug?

I suggest you report a bug. Xenial is not ready and not stable.

If you want to add an item manually, then you just need to create an appropriate file in /usr/share/applications

You can copy an existing file and modify it as you need. If you use one from ~/.config/autostart then they are a little simpler.
