alacarte is to manage ubuntu gnome menu so you will not find any menu item with alacarte name

you must run it the item is System→Preferences→Main menu

or open a terminal and type:

alacarte

then press enter

I got it in the Applications, accessories ok but I don't know how to  get the Launcher installed.  I don't know how to fill out the Launcher.  I have no idea what to browse for.  thanks for the help. Maybe one more time and I will get it.  Otherwise I love Ubuntu but have a lot to learn.

Witch launcher do you want to install?Right click on applications>menu editor>on the left side choose under whitch section you want to put your launcher and then on the right side select new item and there give name and path to your package ( in most cases it is under /usr/bin).

Please tell the program name you want to launch

To self discover the complete path of an executable command, use terminal type:

which <executable-binary-program-name>

substitute <executable-binary-program-name> with the name of program you are referring, example try this:

which firefox
