Restore Old Card Sets

Asked by Bill

Updated to 24.04 today. The new card sets are horrible. Is there any way to restore the old Aisle Riot solitaire card sets circa 20.04/22.04? I ran sudo apt-get install gnome-cards-data and got more card sets, they are equally as bad.

What you could try is downloading the gnome-cards-data deb file for an older Ubuntu release, extract the card sets (*.svgz) and copy them into the directory where aisleriot searches for them (/usr/share/aisleriot/cards/)

" try is downloading the gnome-cards-data deb file for an older Ubuntu release, extract the card sets (*.svgz)"

Thank you for that . . . I went back as far as Trusty Tahr and it appears even the old repo card sets are the "newer" versions, with the exception that old files are .svg's and new ones are .svgz. Doesn't appear old .svg's are recognized any more. Of course renaming then doesn't work but I tried anyway LOL

I did this from here in the repo, don't see a .deb anywhere.

Edit: so I fiddled with this a bit, broke the game, reinstalled it, getting nowhere probably because I have no clue what I'm doing. I should be able to re-install an old version (purged all first) and couldn't get them to install.

Just guessing;
According to Information on the web you can convert svg files to svgz (and vice versa) with gzip.

Can you help with this problem?
