Why was airsnort orphaned?

Asked by Brett Alton

Why was airsnort orphaned? Lack of support upstream?

Is aircrack-ng, ferret or wireshark the recommended replacement?

It's been dropped in Debian past etch. Therefore, it's not in Ubuntu past dapper. At least that is my guess from looking at the repos.

aircrack-ng superceeds airsnort and is available, I think in the usual repositories.

The commands are different, but the functions are all available.

Can you help with this problem?
