flash on ppc ubuntu 12.04

Asked by gustavo duenas

Hello, I'm a real novice, I have a ppc g5 dual 2.0ghz with Ubuntu linux 12.04 and it runs ok, but problem is not all the youtube videos can be played, also the site Hulu.com is impossible to see. I don't get it, this distro is supposedly to be a newer distro and it doesn't support those sites, when My other system mac on the same g5 is using safari (not the latest) with leopard for ppc and it can see with no problem those sites and any videos on it...is there a solutions for this dilema...I'm losing the flash with Ubuntu.someone can help this newbie trying to switch to Ubuntu....thanks.

You will need to use Gnash, Ligjtspark or Swfdec-Player. For a lighter YouTube application you can use minitube and won't need Flash.

Adobe doesn't support PPC. It is nothing to do with Ubuntu. If Adobe release PPC Flash then it will be uploaded but Flash is proprietary to Adobe and only they can make it. There are open source alternatives which you will use but if you are going to bad mouth an OS at least have the facts so that intelligent people can't shoot you down so very easily.

Can you help with this problem?
