Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | grep flash; dpkg -l | grep gnash; dpkg -l | grep swf

Thanks

Could always just download the addon for firefox called "flashaid", it will install the right version of flash for your computer.

sure but if gnash or swfdec are in the way it waill cause issues. You don't need a 3rd party app, you just need to install a SINGLE plugin and all will be well. If more than one exists they conflict and you get issues

Copy the whole command I gave initially
Press CTRL+ALT+T
Paste the command into the terminal and press ENTER
Copy the output and paste here as an update.

Thanks

Press CTRL+ALT+T

It will run a terminal. Or you can use:

Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

Please don't post pointless stuff like "is this a guessing game" it add zero value to the question. You could maybe have researched to find out for yourself and made the whole process FASTER.

If you are using natty then click then press ALT+F2 and type: terminal
click the icon that represents the terminal
The shortcut combo I gave is much easier than messing with the slow menu system.

How do you get that? The terminal is ideal to use as this is a text based environment ansd is AFR easier than me telling you what to click as

1. You may click the wrong thing and make tings worse
2. You may not see where the item is to click

all you have to do is press three buttons together, if that is how you deem "for programmers" then I feel sorry for you

CTRL + ALT + T

Simple, no?

Easy stuff huh. You didn't have any packages installed for flash which is good.
