Proxy setting for downloading

Asked by woeimun

Hi, is there a proxy setting for the "adept manager"? I am using Kubuntu 7.10, I had already setup Konqueror proxy setting and manage to surf the web. But I fail to fetch updates, as it keeps waiting for headers forever.
Thank you.

Its a known bug for Adept, not fixed yet.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adept/+bug/48682

However, you can set your http_proxy variable to work with Adept and things like that.

Take a look at the forum topic mentioned below:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=67958

Post #6 looks like a good way out of this. By configuring APT directly, Adept can be made to use a proxy.

Hi Maniac,
Thanks, post #6 is indeed a good solution, it solve my problem.
May I ask, if there is a "search" feature within launchpad that could point to the abovementioned post?

Not within Launchpad, but there's always Google. :)
