iXBRL/acroread for corporation tax in UK in Ubuntu

Asked by Geoff Hobson

Last year (October 2011) I was able to download and submit HMRC Corporation Tax submission using Acroread which I had downloaded through the Ubuntu Software Centre as a Canonical partner. In March this year (2012) I cannot repeat the process. The file saved last year will not now open and the HMRC so called Technical Help line says there was a problem. Can anyone tell me how to successfully download the appropriate version of Acroread and how to complete the Corporation Tax submission using HMRC software? There is no choice about having to use Acroread for this task according to HMRC. Alternatively can anyone tell me how to submit iXBRL accounts to HMRC using Ubuntu so that the HMRC software is not involved?
