adobe is in German

Asked by cagdas on 2010-06-23

I use Ubuntu 10.04. I have installed Adobe reader as it is shown at the website of Ubuntu. However, Adobe is installed in German although I have chosen English. I tried to convert it into English but as I cannot understand a single word ı could not. Can someone help for the English version of Adobe?

Thnx

Adobe is a COMPANY name, It's like saying you install Microsoft to mean Windows. Its ridiculous.

Adobe make a slew of softwares including but not limited to:
Dreamwever
Flash
Reader
Photoshop (various)

Please refer to it as adobe reader to save confusion in future as it is much clearer.

If you run:

dpkg -l | grep -i adob

what is output?

This is simple 3 step fix:

01. Open Synaptic Package manager and select installed package of Adobe`s Acrobat Reader, rightclick on it and then "Mark for Complete Removal", click Apply .. after it finishes, close the package manager

(This is not necessary if you want use it instead of command line/terminal)

02. Add medibuntu repo ... HowTo is here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

03. Open terminal and do: sudo apt-get install acroread

Ubuntu should choose right localization for your system (itself).
