Screen Brightness

I have Acer aspire 5755 in which i have just installed Ubuntu 12.04. But i am unable to reduce the screen brightness. so what should i do?

Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy acpi

Run:
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Find:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

to:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux"

Save the new file, close gedit and run:
sudo update-grub

Reboot to test

Thanks a lot. the trick is working:)

i want to know one more thing, is there any downloading application for Ubuntu just like Internet Download Manager for windows?
