I have acer aspire 5336-2524 that has dark display,can not see , works normally in windows mode, any suggestions?

while trying to set Ubuntu up on an Acer Aspire 5336-2524 when installing I can not see progress or any screens as the screen stays dark, the screen works normally in windows mode.

Any help would be appreciated

What windows does or doesn't do is of no consequence at all. It is a completely different OS with completely different support.

run:

gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Change this line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

To:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux"

Save the new file, close gedit and run:

sudo update-grub

Reboot to test.
