Asus netbook fan constantly running

Asked by tyler caudle

My asus netbook (1001pxd) has had this since I installed ubuntu on it where the fan constantly runs, I've done a little research and it seems that the kernel cannot control the power of the cpu properly when in idle (or something like that) I'm kind of worried that the fan could stop working if it continuously runs.
Is there any way to fix this problem?

The only workaround that I found is to install current mainline kernel. At least it work for me. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

I suggest you clean install with Precise when it gets released, using a kernel not intended for your release will stop you getting support in the official channels.
