Shutting down my computer

Asked by ctp

When the new version came out I upgraded my computer (several months ago), once this was done I was no longer able to put my computer in hibernate mode. When I did put it in hibernate & restarted my computer my monitor was blurry.
This problem still continues but now when I try & shut my computer all the way down it wont shut down I have to manually shut it down by pushing the off button.
When I start my computer back up the computer is like it's in hibernate mode & I have to hit another key to get the computer to to reboot (i.e. the space bar or the escape key or enter button).
appreciate any feedback on how to fix this.
