Battery Life is Poor

Hello, I just recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my new Samsung q430 laptop. I love the interface but my battery lasts less than an hour. Is there something I can do to improve this? I am not that well versed in Linux so if I need to provide more details please let me know how to get you what you need.

Hello, can you be more specific? Do you mean Am I getting errors when I configure the battery settings in power management?

I do not get any errors when setting up the battery settings in power management.

Mentions something about updating a kernel. Would this be accurate and could you point me in the right direction of how to update this kernel?
