battery life becoming shorter !!!

the usual problem with my battery life...to make a long story short...
in my laptop's BIOS there is a screen for the battery.
it reports the charge level and state (idle, charging, present, etc)
the charge level went from 5 % to 100 % in two mins. and the state went from charging to idle....
well, no wonder my battery performs so poorly, the bios reports it charged, when it's not and stops the charging because the bios listens to it's own report...
i'm going to re-flash the bios...hehehe...
maybe go back a few revs....?
maybe dell wants to sell me a laptop...or a new battery.
