The Laptop is an ACER, Aspire 3690 but I suspended it using my Ubunto 10.04. The "unsuspending" action must be in there somewhere, hidden.

I can't find anything online. have you logged a bug? Are bugs already logged?

To solve the immediate problem of not being able to use your laptop, you should be able to hold down the power button to shut it off, then power it up again. If that doesn't work, then you can unplug the laptop from its power adapter, remove its battery for a few seconds, put the battery back, plug it back in, and then you should be able to turn it on.

I tried to hold down the power button and it doesn't affect it at all.

Then I took the battery out and back in. Powered it on, then it stopped and gave a message about some thing blocked. Thats all. I could not turn it off, so I did the next best thing, I took the battery out. Now I am just charging the battery.

"Powered it on, then it stopped and gave a message about some thing blocked."

You'll have to tell is exactly what it said, in order for us to help you further. Also, did it freeze after it said that, or did it work properly except you couldn't turn it off by telling Ubuntu to shut down the computer?

In this case you asked the right question. I tried to turn the computer on again to see what it said. The entire thing loaded. I tried a few things and it seems to be back to its old self again. Thanks for whatever you did.

Does suspend work now too? (If you don't want to try suspending it again, I understand.)
