Screen brightness in Toshiba Satellite T110

The screen brightness controls on my Toshiba Satellite T110 don't work.
I've downloaded the latest updates and I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.
I've looked through the forums but there doesn't seem to be an answer.
Can anyone tell me a way of fixing this (apart from returning to windows which I'd rather avoid)

add the bootoption:

acpi_backlight=vendor

And it should work according to:

I'm having the same problem.

"acpi_backlight=vendor" does not work on Ubuntu 11.04.

Can you help with this problem?
