Ubuntu Freezes in battery mode if WiFi is on.

Asked by REZ

Ubuntu 10.10
Asus K40IE
Core2Duo - 2.1GHz
2gb ram & 2.3gb swap
320 HDD

When i unplug the A/C power while WiFi is on, ubuntu freezes, unless i quickly turn off WiFi. Similarly when i power up the pc without A/C connected, unless i turn off WiFi Quickly before login, it freezes, if i don do anything at login screen, it freezes.
I upgraded BIOS to latest, but still no change.
Also my ubuntu cannot hibernate. Maybe they are somehow connected.

Please i desperately need to fix this. or atleast let ubuntu developers know about it so they can work on it in later versions.
Thanks alot.

No add it as a boot option in /etc/default/grub

otherwise I'd have said:

run:
acpi=vendor

The bootoption may make things fly nicely.You will need to run:

sudo update-grub

to apply the bootoption
