HP Dv6 Laptop won't wake up after closing (10.10)

I just finished installing 10.10 onto my machine. I ended up closing the laptop to set it to sleep/hibernate when something came up and now when I try to turn it back on the screen stays black. The laptop's fan spins up hard and the keyboard seems unresponsive.

Even after a hard restart I get no different result. I've seen this issue come up on other forums, but that person has never received any useful feedback as far as I can tell.

The laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 with an AMD64 processor.

Try removing the battery, maybe the hard reset was not enough.
