Temperature, CPU and Fan speeds

Asked by Sauj

I have a HP 6730s Laptop, and I'm a bit confused with this sensor v. temperature thing.

Since I've installed Ubuntu (10.04) pretty much most things work -- but I have noticed now that my laptop seems to get much warmer, much faster than when I ran Windoze.

I've installed and run lm-sensors (with all the defaults)... but not sure that helps, I think it only reports the temperature, but doesn't really help with the fan going.

It starts out fine and within 30 mins, it's not far off 70°C

Any help or advice, much appreciated!

My BIOS us out of date, and the manufacturer (HP) advise that BIOSs are only released for Windoze.
