Ubuntu battery drivers needed

Asked by Kostas

I just received a VGP-BPS9/B replacement battery for my Sony Vaio laptop. However, the installation CD that came with the battery contained only windows drivers. Any ideas about where I can find drivers for Ubuntu?

You don't need battery drivers. ACPI is built into the kernel and will manage battery usage.I'm sure the CD you have just displays a dumb icon in the windows system tray but this is also already a feature of your OS.

Just slam in the battery and charge it for at least 24 hours solidly, this will make the "full charge" level in the battery be as high as it can be and will make the battery last longer. This is to be applied to any rechargable device too like mobile phones and such.
