Install lm-sensors:

sudo apt-get install lm-sensors

and see this after that:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SensorInstallHowto

then tell us what temperature is the hard drive.

I've installed lm-sensors. System found only 2 of them.
Once installed they showed me 56 C and 60 C and then maybe after and hour or so they was about 77 C - 78 C
whereas 85 C is critical. o.O

arjun,
I've tried what you'd suggest but failed to stop hard drive. I'll give another shot today.

Thanks.

you need to install hddtemp too. install both "hddtemp" and "sensors-applet" using software center. then right click on the top panel and select add to panel. then drag and drop hardware sensors monitor onto the panel. right click on it and select preferences. go to the sensors tab and click in hddtemp and enable the hard disk you want to monitor. i too had a similar problem with one of my hard disks i solved it by running "hdparm -S7 /dev/sda". but make sure that no program is accessing the drive

Now I'm able t track temp from panel.
But what do you mean saing " but make sure that no program is accessing the drive" ?
There is only one hdd on laptop ... I believe it is hard to work on it without accessing hdd :/
