I'm not up-to-date on the latest graphics cards, most of mine are old cards that work because of their age, or are ATI that I've been able to get working using restricted drivers.

A good place to look at compatibility is https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsVideoCards

The link to http://free3d.org/ also has some useful information.

One Nvidia card that I would particularly recommend is the Nvidia 6200 TurboCache card. It has many advantages:-
1) It is cheap
2) It is rather powerful
3) It works really well with Linux in general and,
4) It supports all the compositing effects such as those of Compiz-Fusion.

Can you help with this problem?
