Solved 3819 i have windows and dapper on the same harddisk. Windows takes eons to boot and within 10-15min the screeching sound is heard. But when booted in dapper it is really swift and no hangups. Now i plan to go completly ubuntu. Doubtful about the harddisk status as i have to install in the same hard disk.
