Has it crashed the system in any way? Were you still able to go forward?

It's just saying that it did not configure your Broadcom bcm chipset

you can easily resolve this by opening up gnome-terminal (press alt + F2 )

and typing

sudo apt-get install bcm43xx-fwcutter

it should provide a fix for your wireless card

Under the VGA mode I see all of the checks which say ok except for the 'Loading Hardware Drivers. When I changed the video settings to 1024.768 the process continues until a progress bar appears that shows the install from left to right and stops halfway.

I pressed alt +F2 is several places but nothing appears. Where am I supposed to do this?

This is the exact thing under the:
*Loading hardware drivers...
firmware_helper [6321]: main: error loading '/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw' for device '/class/firmware/0000:03:00.0' with driver '(unknown)'
[ 117.600350] bcm43xx: Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode5fw" not available or load failed.
firm_helper [6370]: main: error loading '/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw' for device '/class/firmware/0000:03:00.0' with driver ' (unknown)'

Firmware_helper [6373]: main: error loading '/lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode5.fw' for device '/class/firmware/0000:03:00.0' with driver ' (unknown)'
[ 117.735527] bcm43xx: Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode5.fw' not available or load failed.

* Loading kernel modules...
* Loading manual drivers...
* Checking file systems...
fsck 1.40-WIP (14-Nov-2006)
* Mountng local filesystems..
* Activating swapfilw swap...
* Configuring network interfaces...

Nothing else happens after this point, just a blinking curser.

Ok,

how long do you wait while it does this?

sometimes you have to be *really* patient.

well when you press Alt (hold it) and then press F2 it will switch to another console where you can login.
then once in that session you can remove the bcm module with..

sudo rmmod bcm43xx

give feedback on the above - thanks.

I've got the same issue here, and it doesn't seem to matter how long you wait. The system just stops cold at 'loading hardware drivers', and never gets to Gnome. Without that, I can't hit Alt-F2 and get to the terminal shell to try anything. Removing the Broadcom wireless card does not eliminate the issue.

Hey... I've got the same problem with my Compaq presario v6000... I've added "acpi=off" to boot command and the system works... nevertheless I still have these kind of messages in logs...

I'm having the same problem here as the first poster, same exact computer model as well, installation hangs at Configuring Network Interfaces. If I am able to resolve it somehow I'll post here again later.

Adding the ""acpi=off" to the boot command (F6 when the boot screen shows up) allowed me to at least boot the system. Wireless internet still wasn't working.

'acpi=off' apparently works on KUbuntu, but I need to use 'noapic' to get it to work on Ubuntu. Re wireless, follow the instructions for the 'no fluff' install of a Broadcom 43xx adapter - there's a thread about it at UbuntuForums.org.

Can you help with this problem?
