screen saver power saving

how do I stop the screen from power saving. if I turn off power saving the screen saver does not work. Where do you make the screen saver aware of the power saving options in kubuntu

can you go to System > Preferences > Screensaver and set it to Activate screensaver when computer is idle (and the option there of power management)
