Installation problem with Live CD

Asked by Dave Hammond

I have burned a live CD on my XP desktop and tried to run it on my old W98 one.

I can get as far as the Ubuntu menu but then I am getting the following:
I/O error
Error reading boot CD

Along the top of the screen there is also the following text:
Loading isolinux Disk error 20, AX=4200, drive 9F

The version is 6.06.1 i386

I have tried running the integrity checker and I am getting exactly the same result.

Anyone any ideas? Is it just a dodgy CD?

This is just an idea but have you verified that the live CD image has the same md5checksum as the one on the download site.

I have run the check and it has come up with a different md5checksum
