How can I extract Google Earth .BIN file?

Asked by george_rutkay

I downloaded the Linux version on their website. It's in a .BIN file format.

How do I extract that file on Linux? I can't extract the files with Archive Manager or with Ark.

Hello George,

open a terminal window ->Alt+F2 ->type gnome terminal -> at the command prompt change to the directory were the bin file was saved for example cd /home/george/google -> then type sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin (if you get an permission error use sudo sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin

The Programm will be installed in /usr/local/google/google-earth and can be start with /usr/local/google/googleearth.

I managed to get it installed now, thanks!!! Funny, nothing on the desktop would recognize the .BIN file type but the terminal window would handle it! Go figure!

I tried all the above and it doesn't work for me. Can't install ANY .bin files, even in terminal. I'm running 7.10.

Go figure.
