Is it a LiveCD?
If it is just boot with your CD in, make sure in the BIOS that your CD drive is listed as a bootable device with priority over the HD, and if everything is OK Ubuntu will just work from the CD without using your HD.
If the CD doesn't work, chances are that your PC is too old to be able to use it, or that it was not burned correctly.

start

You don't have anything else to do. When Ubuntu is up use it for whatever you want to use it for.

I started it and it started loading and there came a time when the screen became blank , I tryed to give it some time but it was taking forever so i had to take the CD out of the driver.

how long should it take for it to get done?
and how can i make it work for me

If you have less than 192 MB of ROM it will not work.
