The installation takes ages

The installation starts and quickly progresses to 15% indicating 'Detecting file systems...'

There is no obvious activity and the mouse is frozen... there have been a couple of hours already.

Shall I continue waiting?.... any clue?

What kind of system? Make/model/#

What version of Ubuntu are you trying to install?

Have you tried the alternative install disk?

This is Ubuntu 7.04 installed from a CD burnt from the image download.

But now the process completed after a few more hours, still does not work well, but that's a new issue.
