Downloaded Ubuntu & burned to disk; now what?

I burned ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso to CD. My new hard drive isn't going to boot off of this is it? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your question,

First you didn't download the good file, you should download this one: ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso

Then you have to burn the iso file correctly. You can find instructions here:

If it doesn't boot after that, then check this page:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootFromCD

Installation from alternate cd will work too.
