Format for ubuntu tutorials

Asked by jnorthr

No problem - just a little spare time on my hands : how can i contribute to the user documentation for ubuntu, open office, etc. do you have a standard format for the documentation like pdf's, etc. or perhaps a 'house style' for the actual formatting of the content?
let me know -
thx
Jim

I wish all questions were like this Jim......

You can find here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam

info on how to contribute and if you wish join the documentation team.
The official documentation is in DocBook XML format, and is available through our svn repository:

https://docteam.ubuntu.com/repos/

I hope to see you soon on board!

Hi again -
I've taken a look at the svn repo but since i am still quite new to *ix systems, i don't understand how to use it. Do you have a link to a tutorial on how to do so ? I do NOT want to blitz anything by accident !!
Ta
Jim

Here is a nice link:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/SVN

Don't worry too much, you will be working on your local copy. Just be carefull when you commit your changes to the main branch.

Ok, thx for the link but i do not have internet access on my laptop, so it seems unlikely i can access the SVN. Do you know any way i can do documentation work 'offline' ? I really would like to help. Any suggestions appreciated.
Jim
