My new install has rendered my speakers 1/2 power,It says it's okay ?

Asked by Aztec13

i just installed UBUNTU and my speakers havent worked right since.I turn everything up and it only plays half power.a friend told me to open a terminal and go into that asla or alsa
that thing popped up all these graph bar towers the only ones that were not all the way cranked were line in bars.why cant i turn it all the way up ? since this is so short and easy i was at firefox addon site and saw the firefox flash player plugin so I said to myself hey i might as well grab that.but then i saw you have to jump through hoops of fire or something to get the plugins to work. is that flash player doing any good to me right now or not ? I also saw google's new "Accelerator" download that speeds up browsing.i accidentally thought i was opening it not downloading it 3 times that i saw had made it so now is this program just working,or do i have to do something special.
and is it taking up 3 times the space or is there a safety from letting you do something like that ?

Please use one question per one problem.
About speakers:
open the volume control - either by right clicking the sound icon on the system tray or by running gnome-volume-control from terminal,
and then check if you have PCM bar set to max. This should help.

About google web accelerator:
it's a Windows application, it will not work on Ubuntu.
