how to install C in my system in which i have installed ubuntu using a live CD?

i have installed ubuntu in my system using a live CD(64 bit PC)but i dont know how to install C in my system.Can i use graphics in C that is can the header "graphics.h" be used using that C compiler.If so how to compile the program that uses "graphics.h".

I am a very new user of Ubuntu or I should say I want to be, pls help me with the following problem:

I want to format my existing C: drive Windows XP) to ext3 and load Ubuntu, but I'm facing problems with the partition software I don't understand what to do when it says "define root", "define swap" etc. and I don't know how to do those, so please help me providing description about partitioning, formatting, Installing Ubuntu.
