Touchpad stops working at "switch user"

Installed Ubuntu 7.04 on a Lifebook C1020 laptop. Whenever I try to use "switch user", the touchpad and it's buttons stops responding.
The little mouse nub (in the middle of the keyboard) still works though.
If i first use "Lock Screen" and then "Switch user" the touchpad works but only one time, when trying to switch back to the first user it stops working again.
I then tried installing the GSynaptics application but that didn't make a difference.
Thankful for any help.
