cant run open office

Hello ,
Upon running ooffice , it office does not open and i get the following error from the terminal

root@alon-laptop:/home/alon# ooffice

Failed to open display

Have you solved your xorg.conf problem (question: 9392)?
If yes you should mark the other question as solved, if not than we need to solve it before you can do anything else.

Hi Alon,

You seem to be trying to run Open Office as root (The # symbol in the command line indicates this), you should only run applications as your normal user (it will show a $ at the console). This is a security setting in case there are dangerous scripts/macros in a document you open which would potentially damage your PC. If you have the # show up in a terminal you should type "exit" at the prompt and it will drop back to your normal user mode.
