fglrx issue

Asked by hormosapiens

first issue:
how to update driver fglrx 8.34 to 8.38
I tried myself following this guide: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Feisty_Installation_Guide wich usually works on my dell inspiron 6400 ati x1300xorg 7.2 feisty gnome, but didn't work this time. "fglrxinfo" output gave mesa driver. tried also to reconfigure xorg.conf file from terminal with command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" but still "fglrxinfo" gave mesa driver.so I uninstalled fglrx driver and reinstalled this time ubuntu way from restricted driver manager. it installed fglrx 8.34 from the repository.since then everything is ok. got nice grafics and beryl works fine. but I still want to upgrade to fglrx 8.38.6...

second issue:
firefox 2.0.0.4 can't read video divx files from youtube or tvlinks websites.
I installed automatix and got all the codecs and stuff but still can't read divx files. divx6 website seems that there is no divx support for linux....

Please use one question per one issue.

1) ATI
You can use Envy to install newest ATI driver.

2) Firefox
I don't know, I can't help you with that.
