can't install ubuntu

Trying to install Ubuntu on a desktop that had Windows xp it stops installation and this is the message. (/bin/sh: can't access tty;job central turned off) trieng to find solution or a way around.

Did you wipe windows off the Hard Disk? (i.e. blank drive)

Did you format the drive via Grub ? How far does it get through the installation
before this message appears?
