Since upgrading to Feisty why does my keyboard not let me type the Apostrophe sign unless i type it twice?

Asked by Not As needi newbi

Normally while typing words with an apostrophe like ¨don´t¨ or if i use quotation marks, i only have to hit the key once. Now that i have upgraded to Feisty, when I hit the key for one of these marks just one time and then try to type the next letter, i get an error message sound and i have to go back and type the mark twice in order for it to register. This is very annoying because i have learned to type the previous way for many many years and i really don want to have to do it this new way. And i don´t see any reason why this should be happening. Does any one know why this is happening/? and what can i do to correct it?

Ok, i figured it out on my own. I went to System>Preferences>keyboard under "layouts" tab. The default setting was keyboard model: Generic 105 key intl PC and layout of US English International (with dead keys) This setting will make the problem happen when i try to type ¨ and ´ marks.
My solution: back to Sys.>Pref>keyboard under keyboard model I chose Hewlett-Packard Internet keyboard and under layout i clicked on ¨add¨ and chose US English along with the other English International.
Then i had to use the "up" arrow to move the "English" up to the first position. Now it works the "normal" way.

Additionally, i had to delete the old layout of "US English International (with dead keys)" thus leaving just "US English" to make it work properly for me. I mean i only have to hit the key once to get the mark i want.
