How to recover boot information in usplash as in Dapper?

I liked the boot configuration of usplash in Dapper, where boot messages appeared in the splash, below ubuntu's logo.

Unfortunately since Edgy this information is no longer available in the splash screen - only if one disables the splash.

How do I enable the messages in Feisty, as it was in Dapper?

gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

delete “quiet” from file

messages show appear again.
