ubuntu not recognizing vista bootloader

Asked by North Star

ho folks,

I own a HP dv6000t. I want to install ubuntu into the machine. But during the last step of installation on the "Ready to install ", ubuntu does not recognize the windows vista/Longhorn(loader) under Migration Assitant field. This simply means that ubuntu does not recognize any other operating system on my machine which simply means that I cannot boot into vista if install ubuntu..

please help with this installation..

thanks,
North Star

You should be able to install it without issues, the Migration Assistant is used for migrating files and settings and you are correct that it will not detect Vista. You may want to refer to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot for more information and how to have Windows shrink it's own partition first.
