Hear the Drums but no screen to accompany help

Asked by Jhackster

I have tried to install ubuntu on my system. I'm planning on a dual boot and I just bought a new hard drive today to do it. My problem is I've tried to install it on normal and safe graphics mode and I hear the drums but my screen is completely black. My setup is
intel 965 board with D945 cpu
2 HDD 1st windows 250gig 2nd hopefully ubuntu 320 gig
2 gig ram
ati x1600xt graphics card
audigy 2 zs sound card
2 tv tuner cards and I'm guessing that is all that is needed.
Please help me figure this out.
Thanks Jared
