Hi i have a HP Pavillion desk top PC which has Vista Home prenium which i have all my downloads etc
filed and need to know if i can have both Vista and Ubuntu on the same PC and be able to switch between
these 2 operating systems ( i believe you can and i think its called dual booting correct me if i am wrong ).

Not being a whizz kid on PC`s although i am fairly competent if i can have both systems on my PC how do
i do it once i have inserted the UBUNTU disc which i recieved this week as i dont want to risk losing all my

Salem,

Of course you can do a dual boot ubuntu/windows
Try this tutorial: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm
it is very well done and easy to follow.

Good luck

It's good that you have backed up all your data on an external HDD. First make sure you have a separate partition where Ubuntu will install. Insert CD in drive. Change BIOS settings to enable CD boot. Follow instructions. Alternatively, install VM on windows vista, then run a virtual ubuntu on top.

Can you help with this problem?
