Remote desktop to windows office PC

I connect to my office PC (windows) from ubuntu 9.1 through RSA secure id (VPN) and after connecting there is slowness in the remote machine either mouse movements or other activities is sluggish

speedtest does not recognize server in minnesotta. I tried with Sioux falls and following are the results Download - 1.62 Mb/S, Upload - 2.50 Mb/S.

What kind of windows is on your office PC? ... I had similar problem with Vista, disabling all Vista effects and reverting to classic windows theme helped a lot.

ok its not the fastest link in the world, it will be hugely slower than on lan which, even with the slowest wifi will run at 54Mbps (thats bits NOT bytes). So it will be slow over WAN.

Physical distance is also a factor and can make stuff even slower but your 2.5Mbps upspeed isn't going to be fantastic.
