Using 56 k dial up modem Intel R 536EP with driver 4.77.8 in XP, which is working fine. Do I need a separate driver for this modem ,for Ubuntu? how to make network connection for a dial up modem in Ubuntu 7.04? Can any one help please. imran.

Hi Gul,

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems connecting to the internet.

Firstly can i point you towards:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/

and more specifically:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Intel536EP

Sadly, as many users no longer use dial-up it's not as simple as you might like. You do need to use the console, hopefully the second link should help you get running. It does appear complicated, but it isn't too bad. Try and follow the guide; if you have any problems please ask for further assistance.
