what type of partition

I'm about to install Ubuntu but what type of file system should I change in my partition to (for installing the OS in 1 partition and store DATA in the other). Thanks alot

If this is 9.10 it will default for the OS to Ext4 and Ext2 for swap. If you want to use utilities such as shred or secure-delete, then make DATA Ext2 as well. Else Ext4.

9.10's default fs is ext4 and swap is a native swap format and not ext2. Ext4 will be faster than ext3
