installer.sh wont run

UT2004 "install.sh" wont open with gedit. see output below:

/media/UT2004_DVD/linux-installer.sh

Could not open the file /media/UT2004_DVD/linux-installer.sh.

gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again.

Why are you trying to opening the file with gedit? If you wish to run the file to install the program use the command
sh /media/UT2004_DVD/linux-installer.sh
or
/media/UT2004_DVD/linux-installer.sh

found the check box to run as executable and checked it. now ut2004 runs native under unbuntu9.10!

Thanks to every one. now to get WOW to not freeze up. lol
thats another day though. have some stuff to try first.
