ubuntu 7.04 resolution problems on playstation 3

Asked by tedly

Hi everyone

I recently installed Ubuntu 7.04 on a playstation 3 with a 480i monitor. Everything went well BUT the screen is WAY too small and it looks like all I can see is the upper left hand corner of the monitor (as if the resolution is too high for the monitor. I have tried changing the resolution to different video modes - but the screen remains the same. Obviously I am missing something and so - I come here for help. Below I will list my kboot.conf and xorg.conf files.

Can anyone suggest my next step? Is there a program I can run to try different resolutions to see if I can find a better one to use with the monitor?

Thanks.

Hello tedly,

thanks for your question. I have seen displays on which you have to comment out the Modes in the "Display" Sections in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to get ps3videomode to work. Maybe this is also the case for your screen.

Hope this helps,
dennis
