Ubuntu shutsdown everytime I choose restart computer

Asked by DennisC

I have installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my PC. Why is it that everytime I choose to restart my PC (System->Log Out->Restart the computer) it shutsdown? Is it a bug or I need to change some settings? Can you help me?

This probably is a bug. What is the last line it prints? It should say
"Will now reboot" or "Will now halt"

The last line say "Rebooting...". Then it shutsdown. Are all copies of Ubuntu like this? If not, where can I get a copy?

How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.

Can you also teach me how to share my local printer in Ubuntu with Windows users?
Thanks a lot for your support!

Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min.

To share a printer with Windows you'll need to install and setup Samba

Also, have a look at the Ubuntu Server guide
