installed 9.10 monitor doesn't work

installed ubuntu 9.10 now the monitor doesn't work. works with 9.04

What do you mean the monitor does not work? Can you give more information? Can you see the OS choices menu? Is it that after it the monitor turns black?

I have been running 9.04 with no problems. I installed 9.10 and also tried doing the upgrade for 9.10. It installs without errors. When I do the restart the monitor is not recognized and I end up with a blank screen.

Can you see GRUB? In that case, please try going into recovery mode and get to terminal. If you can, do let me know

never see GRUB, right after bios it goes black, that makes me think it might be the bios settings, i'll let you know what i find
